NSF conducted an induction training programme for newly recruited officers of the Sri Lanka Scientific Service amid of their training at the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA). NSF being the premier organization for fostering science, technology and innovation has been selected by the SLIDA and accordingly, this programme was conducted on request of the SLIDA. The programme was designed to inspire newly recruited officers of the Sri Lanka Scientific Service in terms of role of science, technology and innovation in making a prosperous nation and role of research and development in achieving socio-economic development. The event was held on 26th August at the NSF auditorium where Dr Sepalika Sudasinghe, Director General, NSF delivered the welcome speech and shared her experience pertaining to importance of having right public policies and role of policy formulators and implementors towards progressive development as a nation. The programme was also characterized by presentations made on role of NSF in fostering science, technology and innovation with an emphasis on strengthening research and innovation ecosystem of the country and fostering science education and civic science literacy followed by a panel discussion.
This programme provided the opportunity for newly recruited Officers of the Sri Lanka Scientific Service to widen their knowledge on role of innovation ecosystem that can play to emerge as an advance nation, opportunities available at NSF for them to shine their research career and how they could contribute as research practitioners in future having socio-economic impact.
The workshop was organized by the Media and Event Management Division under the guidance of the Director General, NSF.
